Removing a Heart is More Art Than Science
The pandemic almost broke The Revelator*. During lockdown the romantic partnership between band leaders Rosie Ruthless & Skidrow ended. The Revelator's daring debut record was born from a hail-mary attempt at saving their musical partnership. The songs craft a winding tale of recovery from agonizing heartbreak; healing then re-opening the wound, struggling to forgive. Scars are laid bare, and blood is left on the page. The result is a record packed with the raw emotional aftershock of the bomb that exploded their world.
Most importantly, the music is beautiful. Heartache has drawn The Revelator to lean into heavier grooves, resulting in music that is felt deep in the body. In their search for healing, they found that moving to an irresistible rock beat is the best medicine. Unfiltered words document the passion of a love lost, and hope for a new future. Their sonic palette is staggering in breadth and paints a unique, genre-blending indie-rock experience, as expansive as it is cohesive.
Since returning to the stage in late 2022, The Revelator has gained significant traction in the San Francisco scene. Now, with their groundbreaking debut album on the horizon, the band appears destined for big things. -Henson PR

Bio
The Revelator is a San Francisco based indie rock band. Fronted by the magnetic male-female duo of vocalists Skidrow and Rosie Ruthless, The Revelator pairs story-driven songwriting with the contagious passion of bands like The Decemberists. Together, their voices are a musical yin and yang, Rosie’s breathy croon balancing Skidrow’s rock & roll growl. This vocal symbiosis floats over an indie rock orchestra that seamlessly blends guitars, banjo, synths, woodwinds, and whatever else they can get their hands on.
Since their early exploration of acoustic freak-folk on A Radiation Leak, the band’s first EP, The Revelator has steadily honed their production and songcraft with each release. Their Year of the Breakup EP saw the band add drums to the mixture, and the subsequent Drum Machines are People Too marked their foray into incorporating electronic elements. While their instrumentation has evolved, they’ve never lost sight of their north star; incisive songwriting, that is darkly seductive in its determination to traverse the depths of the soul and reach the recesses many writers shy away from. This distinctive writing style makes them one of the most exciting voices to watch on the indie scene. The band’s 2021 Strange Times single saw them weave these elements into a tantalizing show of things to come. Their forthcoming debut LP delivers on this promise.
Removing a Heart is More Art Than Science is out June 2nd, 2023, release show plans TBA.

*The Revelator has requested to acknowledge that many horrible things happened during the Covid-19 pandemic, of which their conscious uncoupling is insignificant in comparison to the tragic loss of life and livelihood.
No one leaves disappointed.
All will be revealed.
Carousel Single
Carousel is a lush, relentlessly grooving rocker that elevates to heartrending catharsis with The Revelator’s warm harmonies and ardent, honest lyrics. Oozing with heartache, the song paints the hazy post-breakup trance as a “Groundhog Day” of anguish. In contrast to their preceding single, Dark Eyes, Carousel finds the band treading more vulnerable territory, leaving their wounded love on full display. Altogether, it’s a balancing act that’s as exhilarating as it is mesmerizing.
